Hello! My name is Diana! I'm 19 years old and currently working on my Bachelors. I have been a communications, pre-law, and psychology major. I am now an English major with a concentration in teaching 8-12. I'm actually really excited about this new major! I love reading and writing and some of the best volunteering I've done is when I tutored. I am a member of Kappa Delta sorority and I absolutely love it. The values she stands for and the girls I have met have truly made my college experience amazing so far. Hmmm..My favorite color is purple and I like to travel. I've been to most of the major cities in the US, Mexico, and Jamaica. However, my favorite place in the world is the Grand Canyon. I love learning and I can't wait to be able to teach people and hopefully ignite their love for new experiences.
Technology in the classroom is pretty vital. We are in the age of technology; it is, literally, everywhere. Students are always on some sort of mobile device, so it really just makes sense to try to integrate what they already know and enjoy doing with learning. I don't think it would be reasonable to just toss out the "old" ways of the classroom because truly nothing can replace the smell of an actual book, but it wouldn't hurt to make it easier to access the classroom from home.
I hope to learn how to make a classroom environment fun and efficient. I know a lot about technology, but I want to find ways to make that knowledge useful as a teacher. I hope to actually learn new things and find them helpful enough to remember and then apply in my classroom when I become a teacher. I, obviously, would also like to make an A. I took my first full online class last summer session and I really enjoyed it. Hopefully, I have just a good experience as last time!
Wow, I have not been to the Grand Canyon before, I always seen it on pictures, and on TV shows. I would like to go someday and the future, and bring my Kodak. I agree that these children are surrounded by technology and it is steady evolving but as teachers we should not abandon old teaching methods, I mean what if the lights go out? I'm just saying.
ReplyDeleteI think it is awesome that you are wanting to be an English teacher. I think technology is great, but it is also necessary for teens to learn to live outside of the texting realm. Reading and writing English is a great skill, but can be difficult to master. I agree that students cannot rely solely upon technology, but know the guidelines and how to use them.
